About Me

Although my day job is outside of the animal rescue field, I am passionate about helping homeless pets and helping shelters save all healthy and treatable pets in their care.

I have volunteered at rescues/No Kill shelters since I was 16 years old. During my undergraduate years, I was also a station captain at a monthly large-volume feral cat spay/neuter clinic (Operation Catnip in Gainesville, FL), an adoption counselor at a rescue, and the president of a university student organization that raised awareness about adoption. I have been a foster pet parent and I adopted my wonderful pets from open-intake shelters and from rescues.

I am a No Kill advocate and an avid reader on issues in the shelter community, legislation that affects shelter pets, and the No Kill movement.* I am interested in increasing adoptions through positive marketing and particularly in helping FIV+ cats and special needs pets find their forever homes. Please see my recommended links for some of the blogs and groups that I follow.

(*If you would like to know more about the No Kill movement, I highly recommend reading Nathan Winograd’s books starting with “Redemption” or visiting the No Kill Advocacy Center website.)
